Children's karate at Stars & Stripes Ryukyu Academy places a strong emphasis on Character Development while also teaching traditional Martial Arts. This program has been developed with the goal of developing children with life skills they will use throughout adolescence and adulthood. The students who persevere through the rank of black belt are typically above average students, respectful at home, and have become well rounded individuals. Many possess a level of maturity well beyond their years.
Along with teaching great martial arts skills, our curriculum focuses on character enhancement through "Words of Wisdom" (WOW), which is a character education program that serves as a foundation for children to learn about various attributes of strong character as well as apply them to their everyday life. Character development concepts include self-esteem, confidence, concentration, respect, self control and dedication.
We are constantly on a quest to be the best martial arts academy. Our curriculum is exciting and challenging with the intent to build confident leaders. With each class, new skill, and belt graduation, our goal is for each child to build self confidence along with gaining the empowerment and spirit to overcome any challenge.
Beginner Youth Karate (4 to 7 yrs.)
In this class, boys and girls will learn the fundamentals of karate. A few of the skills your child will gain from participating in this program are: coordination, self-esteem, self-confidence, problem solving skills, following directions and working well with others. Also incorporated with martial arts training is character development and physical fitness in a fun, safe environment where the child comes first. $72 per month.
*Additional $25 fee for belt graduation approximately every 10 weeks. The graduation includes the student's new belt, a board to break and a certificate.
In this class, boys and girls will learn karate while gaining confidence, physical fitness, character development, self-discipline, obtain coordination, acquire timing, gain precision, increase awareness and respect, create kinesthetic skill, use self-defense, improve overall health, decrease stress, ramp up power, add flexibility and balance, all while having fun. $76 per month.
